The species Thermobifida alba was originally described and validly published by Zhang et al. 1998. Zhang et al. formed this name in 1998 by placing the species (Locci et al. 1967) Cross and Goodfellow 1973 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Zhang et al. 1998 emend. Yang et al. 2008.
