Nomenclatural History
The species Bifidobacterium catenulatum was originally described by Scardovi and Crociani 1974. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. In 2018, Nouioui et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Scardovi and Crociani 1974) Nouioui et al. 2018 .
