Nomenclatural History
The species Chlamydia trachomatis was originally described by Rake 1957. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Everett et al. published an emended description of this species in 1999. A subsequent emendation was proposed by García-López et al. in 2019.
