The species Chlamydophila caviae was originally described and validly published by Everett et al. 1999. In 2015, Sachse et al. established Chlamydophila caviae as the basonym of
Chlamydia caviae (Everett et al. 1999) Sachse et al. 2015 emend. García-López et al. 2019
.
