Nomenclatural History
|
The species Bacteroides levii was originally described by Holdeman et al. 1977. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1983 the name was revived and validly published by Johnson and Holdeman. In 1995, Shah et al. established Bacteroides levii as the basonym of
Porphyromonas levii (Johnson and Holdeman 1983) Shah et al. 1995 emend. Hahnke et al. 2016
