Nomenclatural History

The species Bacteroides pentosaceus was originally described by Shah and Collins 1981. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 8 in 1982. Johnson and Holdeman established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Bacteroides buccae Holdeman et al. 1982
in 1985.
