Nomenclatural History
The species Bacteroides tectus was originally described and validly published by Love et al. 1986. Euzéby corrected this name from (sic) to . García-López et al. published an emended description of this species in 2019. Sakamoto et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Benno et al. 1983 emend. Sakamoto et al. 2010 in 2010.
