The species Acetomicrobium faecale was originally described by Winter et al. 1987. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 24 in 1988. Euzéby corrected this name from Acetomicrobium faecalis (sic) to Acetomicrobium faecale . In 2015, Bouanane-Darenfed et al. established Acetomicrobium faecale as the basonym of
Caldicoprobacter faecalis (Winter et al. 1988) Bouanane-Darenfed et al. 2015
