Nomenclatural History
The species Rikenella microfusus was originally described by Collins et al. 1985. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 18 in 1985. Hahnke et al. published an emended description of this species in 2016. List Editor formed this name in 1985 by placing the species Kaneuchi and Mitsuoka 1978 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Collins et al. 1985 emend. García-López et al. 2019.
