The species Flavobacterium gondwanense was originally described and validly published by Dobson et al. 1993. In 1998, Bowman et al. established Flavobacterium gondwanense as the basonym of
Psychroflexus gondwanensis (Dobson et al. 1993) Bowman et al. 1999 emend. Hahnke et al. 2016
.
