The species Polaribacter glomeratus was originally described and validly published by Gosink et al. 1998. García-López et al. published an emended description of this species in 2019. Gosink et al. formed this name in 1998 by placing the species
Flectobacillus glomeratus McGuire et al. 1988
into the genus Polaribacter Gosink et al. 1998 emend. Li et al. 2014.
