The species Tenacibaculum ovolyticum was originally described and validly published by Suzuki et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Suzuki et al. formed this name in 2001 by placing the species
Flexibacter ovolyticus Hansen et al. 1992
into the genus Tenacibaculum Suzuki et al. 2001.
