Nomenclatural History	The species Sphingobacterium thalpophilum was originally described by Takeuchi and Yokota 1992. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 47 in 1993. Hahnke et al. published an emended description of this species in 2016. Takeuchi and Yokota formed this name in 1992 by placing the species Flavobacterium thalpophilum Holmes et al. 1983 into the genus Sphingobacterium Yabuuchi et al. 1983 emend. Choi and Lee 2012.
