Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. The species Cytophaga marinoflava was originally described by Colwell et al. 1966. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1989 the name was revived by Reichenbach. In 2005, Nedashkovskaya et al. established as the basonym of (Reichenbach 1989) Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005 emend. Tahon et al. 2020 .
