Nomenclatural History
The species Fusobacterium mortiferum was originally described by Holdeman and Moore 1970. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. De Witte et al. published an emended description of this species in 2017. De Witte et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Heller 1922) Holdeman and Moore 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2017.
