Nomenclatural History

The species Herbaspirillum huttiense was originally described and validly published by Ding and Yokota 2004. Dobritsa et al. published an emended description of this species in 2010. Ding and Yokota formed this name in 2004 by placing the species
Pseudomonas huttiensis Leifson 1962 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Herbaspirillum Baldani et al. 1986 emend. Carro et al. 2012. Dobritsa et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Herbaspirillum putei Ding and Yokota 2004 emend. Dobritsa et al. 2010
in 2010. In 2010, Dobritsa et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form
Herbaspirillum huttiense huttiense (Leifson 1962) Dobritsa et al. 2010
.
