Nomenclatural History
The species Herbaspirillum putei was originally described and validly published by Ding and Yokota 2004. Dobritsa et al. published an emended description of this species in 2010. In 2010, Dobritsa et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Ding and Yokota 2004) Dobritsa et al. 2010 . Dobritsa et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Leifson 1962) Ding and Yokota 2004 emend. Dobritsa et al. 2010 in 2010.
