The species Loktanella vestfoldensis was originally described and validly published by Van Trappen et al. 2004. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. In 2018, Wirth and Whitman established as the basonym of (Van Trappen et al. 2004) Wirth and Whitman 2018 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 .
