The genus Salinimonas was originally proposed and validly published by Jeon et al. 2005. Gago et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Baumann et al. 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Barbeyron et al. 2019 in 2021. Gago et al. transferred the members of this genus into Baumann et al. 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Barbeyron et al. 2019 in 2021.
