Nomenclatural History

The family Incertae sedis 12 was originally proposed by Garrity et al. 2007. García-López et al. transferred the members of this family into
Bacteroidaceae Pribram 1933 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. García-López et al. 2019
in 2019.
"Incertae sedis" ("of uncertain placement") are placeholders and should not be considered to be formal names.
Al Masalma et al. 2009 placed this genus Phocaeicola in the order Bacteroidales without designating a family.
