The genus Capsularis was originally proposed by Prévot 1938. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Cato et al. transferred the members of this genus into Castellani and Chalmers 1919 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Shah and Collins 1989 in 1982.
