The species Chainia minutisclerotica was originally described by Thirumalachar et al. 1965. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Garrity et al. established Chainia minutisclerotica as an earlier homotypic synonym of
Streptomyces minutiscleroticus (Thirumalachar et al. 1965) Pridham 1970 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Lanoot et al. 2005 pro synon. Chainia minutisclerotica Thirumalachar et al. 1965 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 2007.
