Nomenclatural History
The genus Arachnia was originally proposed by Pine and Georg 1969. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Pine and Georg published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Tindall in 2019. Tindall established as an earlier homotypic synonym of Scholz and Kilian 2016 pro synon. Arachnia Pine and Georg 1969 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Tindall 2019 in 2019. This name replaces the name Scholz and Kilian 2016 pro synon. Arachnia Pine and Georg 1969 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Tindall 2019 .

The unification of Arachnia with Propionibacterium proposed by Charfreitag et al. 1988 was essentially reversed by the creation of Pseudopropionibacterium Scholz and Kilian 2016. Tindall 2019 asserts that Arachnia Pine and Georg 1969 (Approved Lists 1980) has priority over Pseudopropionibacterium Scholz and Kilian 2016.
