The species Micropolyspora rectivirgula was originally described by Prauser and Momirova 1970. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Kurup and Agre established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Micropolyspora faeni Cross et al. 1968 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 1983. In 1983, Kurup and Agre established Micropolyspora rectivirgula as the basonym of
Faenia rectivirgula (Krasil'nikov and Agre 1964) Kurup and Agre 1983
.
