The species Pimelobacter jensenii was originally described by Suzuki and Komagata 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 11 in 1983. In 1989, Collins et al. established Pimelobacter jensenii as the basonym of
Nocardioides jensenii (Suzuki and Komagata 1983) Collins et al. 1989
