The species Pimelobacter simplex was originally described by Suzuki and Komagata 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 11 in 1983. Suzuki and Komagata formed this name in 1983 by placing the species
Arthrobacter simplex (Jensen 1934) Lochhead 1957 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Pimelobacter Suzuki and Komagata 1983. Garrity et al. established Pimelobacter simplex as an earlier homotypic synonym of
Nocardioides simplex (Jensen 1934) O'Donnell et al. 1983 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 pro synon. Pimelobacter simplex (Jensen 1934) Suzuki and Komagata 1983
in 2007.
