Nomenclatural History

This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 15 in 1984. The species Grahamella peromysci was originally described by Tyzzer 1942. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1984 the name was revived by Ristic and Kreier. In 1995, Birtles et al. established Grahamella peromysci as the basonym of
Bartonella peromysci (Ristic and Kreier 1984) Birtles et al. 1995
