The species Pirella marina was originally described by Schlesner 1986. This name was validly published by List Editor 1987. Schlesner and Hirsch replaced this illegitimate name with
Pirellula marina (Schlesner 1987) Schlesner and Hirsch 1987
in 1987.
Pirella marina is an illegitimate name (The name Pirella Schlesner and Hirsch 1984 is illegitimate because of precedence of the fungal genus Pirella Bainier 1883 (Rule 51b(4))).
