Nomenclatural History	The species Desulfovibrio piger was originally described and validly published by Loubinoux et al. 2002. Loubinoux et al. formed this name in 2002 by placing the species Desulfomonas pigra Moore et al. 1976 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Desulfovibrio Kluyver and van Niel 1936 (Approved Lists 1980) emend.
