The species Dickeya paradisiaca was originally described and validly published by Samson et al. 2005. Samson et al. formed this name in 2005 by placing the species Fernandez-Borrero and Lopez-Duque 1970 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Samson et al. 2005. In 2021, Hugouvieux-Cotte-Pattat et al. established as the basonym of (Fernandez-Borrero and Lopez-Duque 1970) Hugouvieux-Cotte-Pattat et al. 2021 .
