The species Burkholderia phenoliruptrix was originally described by Coenye et al. 2004. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 102 in 2005. In 2014, Sawana et al. established as the basonym of (Coenye et al. 2005) Sawana et al. 2015 .
