Nomenclatural History
The species Caldicellulosiruptor acetigenus was originally described and validly published by Onyenwoke et al. 2006. Onyenwoke et al. formed this name in 2006 by placing the species Nielsen et al. 1994 into the genus Rainey et al. 1995 emend. Onyenwoke et al. 2006. Habib et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Mladenovska et al. 1997 in 2021. Habib et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Bredholt et al. 1999 in 2021.
