The species Dietzia cinnamea was originally described and validly published by Yassin et al. 2006. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Nouioui et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Nesterenko et al. 1982) Rainey et al. 1995 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 in 2018.
