Nomenclatural History
The genus Paracoccus was originally proposed by Davis et al. 1969. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Doudoroff published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Ludwig et al. in 1993, Katayama et al. in 1995 and Liu et al. in 2008. Ludwig et al. transferred the members of Robertson and Kuenen 1984 into this genus in 1993.
