Nomenclatural History
The species Streptosporangium amethystogenes was originally described by Nonomura and Ohara 1960. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. In 1996, Iinuma et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form Nonomura and Ohara 1960 (Approved Lists 1980) .
