The genus Dechlorosoma was originally proposed and validly published by Achenbach et al. 2001. Tan and Reinhold-Hurek established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Azospira Reinhold-Hurek and Hurek 2000 emend. Bae et al. 2007
in 2003.
