Nomenclatural History
The species Jeotgalibacillus soli was originally described and validly published by Cunha et al. 2012.

"Jeotgalibacillus soli" was previously published by Chen et al. 2010 and represents a different isolate than the type strain of Jeotgalibacillus soli Cunha et al. 2012. The former name proposal contravenes Rules 51a, 51b (3), 51b(4)and 53 of the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes. These Rules in combination establish that the effectively published name Jeotgalibacillus soli Chen et al. 2010 became illegitimate on the valid publication of Jeotgalibacillus soli Cunha et al. 2012 and must be replaced according to Rule 54 Paragraph 2, which stipulates that an earlier legitimate name or epithet exists, one must be chosen and treated as a new species. Not to be confused with the illegitimate homonym Jeotgalibacillus soli Chen et. al 2010 which is replaced by Jeotgalibacillus terrae.
