The species Streptacidiphilus torunensis was originally described by Golinska et al. 2016. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 180 in 2018. Upon validation, this name was corrected from (sic) to .

The nomenclature reviewers have corrected the epithet to torunensis (to.run.en¢sis. N.L. masc. adj. torunensis …).
