The species Epibacterium mobile was originally described and validly published by Wirth and Whitman 2018. Wirth and Whitman formed this name in 2018 by placing the species Muramatsu et al. 2007 emend. Vandecandelaere et al. 2008 into the genus Penesyan et al. 2013 emend. Liang et al. 2021.
