The species Campylobacter cryaerophilus was originally described and validly published by Neill et al. 1985. Euzéby corrected this name from (sic) to . Kiehlbauch et al. published an emended description of this species in 1991. In 1991, Vandamme et al. established as the basonym of (Neill et al. 1985) Vandamme et al. 1991 .
