Nomenclatural History
The genus Rothia was originally proposed by Georg and Brown 1967. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Georg published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Nouioui et al. in 2018. Collins et al. transferred the members of Bergan and Kocur 1982 into this genus in 2000.
