Nomenclatural History

The species Brevibacterium halotolerans was originally described by Delaporte and Sasson 1967. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Dunlap et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Bacillus axarquiensis Ruiz-García et al. 2005 emend. Dunlap et al. 2016
in 2016. Dunlap et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Bacillus malacitensis Ruiz-García et al. 2005
in 2016. In 2017, Tindall established Brevibacterium halotolerans as the basonym of
Bacillus halotolerans (Delaporte and Sasson 1967) Tindall 2017
