The family Microsphaeraceae was originally proposed by 1997. This name was validly published by Stackebrandt et al. 1997. Tao et al. replaced this illegitimate name with
Nakamurellaceae Tao et al. 2004 emend. Zhi et al. 2009
in 2004.
