Nomenclatural History
The order Chlamydiales was originally proposed by Storz and Page 1971. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Everett et al. published an emended description of this order in 1999. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Gupta et al. in 2015.
