Nomenclatural History
The species Bacteroides pyogenes was originally described by Benno et al. 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 12 in 1983. Sakamoto et al. published an emended description of this species in 2010. Sakamoto et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of corrig. Love et al. 1986 emend. García-López et al. 2019 in 2010. Sakamoto et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Benno et al. 1983 emend. García-López et al. 2019 in 2010.
