VEGF, angiogesis, tumors, and inhibition by Avastin. The biological coordination between tumorigenesis and angiogenesis is mediated by proangiogeneic factors such as VEGF. Antibody strategies have resulted in drugs like Avastin that work to bind VEGF, blocking angiogenesis and thereby interfering with the disease. Blue circles represent VEGF; gold circles in right-hand panel represent metastases and possible exosome release.
