Approach to the patient with known or suspected coronary artery disease undergoing elective surgery. For all patients undergoing surgery, antianginal medications should be taken with a sip of water on the morning of surgery; aspirin therapy should be discontinued for 7 to 10 days; and diuretic therapy should be discontinued on the morning of surgery.
