Davis Rig “Lickometer” for the brief-access taste assay. Rodents that are mildly water-deprived lick solutions from up to sixteen bottles arranged in the “lick block.” Spouts from each bottle are presented one-at-a time through the port in the front of the cage. A “lick” is recorded each time the rodent’s tongue makes contact with the spout.
