The species Rhodopirellula rosea was originally described by Roh et al. 2013. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 158 in 2014. In 2020, Kallscheuer et al. established as the basonym of (Roh et al. 2014) Kallscheuer et al. 2021 .
