The genus Roseimaritima was originally proposed by Bondoso et al. 2015. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 171 in 2016. Wiegand et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2021.

Wiegand et al. 2021 provided an "updated description" that should be considered an emendation.
